In the Book and the film the two boys Joshua and Elie were both Jewish and deported from their home to a concentration camp with their fathers. But Joshuas life in the camp displayed in Life is beauteous is ironic in many ways compared to what Elie Wiesel had been through. The irony shown could be from the fact that the Director didnt want a barbarous film, so that the film could as well fetch younger viewers.
sensation of the main differences of the boys was that Joshua wasnt the one telling the story. Elie was the author of night and he was the one describing the either story in the book. Joshua wasnt the storyteller in the film; his father explained the tragedies through the whole thing from the start. Elie wiesel saw his father as a truly important part of his life, he was real dedicated to Shlomo and of all time protected him and engaged to always help him when he was in need. For example when his father was near death at the hold on of the book, he gives him all his rations of food, even though water would have made him in worse matters, he gave water to him ;because of the dedication. Joshua doesnt really see his father from Elies Perspective, this is probably because of his age and that he doesnt know whats really going on.
Elie is very confused when he receives the news from his dad about the shipping with the cattle trucks. He didnt know how to act against all the lies that he was being told about Everything going be ok. He is shocked and surprised from the blasphemy he describes since the very first day including the dead babies being dumped into the fire, and the crematorium flames, as he states Why was this happening.
